Alexander Technique enables anyone to move with ease and minimal effort in all activities. It is taught in many performance schools and colleges, such as George Brown College in Toronto, which offers two leveled courses of Alexander Technique as part of its Theatre Arts Program.
Who comes for lessons?
Everyone can benefit from taking lessons, but generally, performance students are attracted to learning the Alexander Technique as part of their artistic development.
What should I wear?
Students should wear comfortable clothes, and they are dressed at all times during their lessons.
What happens in a lesson?
Students are guided through verbal and tactile instructions to sense their current kinesthetic state, and they are encouraged to release unnecessary excess effort. Over time, students are expected to develop their kinesthetic sense and learn how to apply the principles of the technique to their daily activities.
How long and how much is a lesson?
The duration of a private lesson is 50 minutes.
Private lessons are $50 per lesson.
Special rates for students under the age of 25 and seniors: $40 per lesson.
Workshops
Although Alexander Technique is best taught one on one, students may get a feel about the technique through group workshops. Therefore, we offer introductory group workshops with special rates for music schools. Please contact us for details.
